i’ve heard a lot about krispy kreme donuts since coming to uni (students are obviously fat, food-obessed munchkins) but i’d never tried one until popping into the tesco express in canary wharf with matt.  naturally i went for the apple and cinnamon, ‘cos it sounded great, and it was pretty darned good! so it got me thinking; which krispy kreme tastes the best?  well, obviously, the only way to find out is to try them all, so that is exactly what matthew and i did, with some help from out little friend, pup!

 the krispy kreme adventure begins…

… and so it started; 12 donuts, waiting to be eaten, two hungry little people, and one greedy little pup!

 

first was the apple and cinnamon. it had an apple filling and lots of cinnamon flavoured powder on the outside. sounds yummy.

several munches later…

matt says: “i think it needs more apple chunks.” 7/10

emma says: “the filling is nice but the powder is messy; i need a drink of water.” 7/10

overall score: 7/10

next was the spirally-ring-thing. it looks weird, to my mind, not that nice. but let’s see what it tastes like…

matt says: “a good standard donut.” 5/10

emma says: “it has a weird after-taste.” 5/10

overall total: 5/10

third up is the chocolate and custard donut. matt is looking forward to this one, i am dreading it.

matt says: “i like that one but i wouldn’t put chocolate on it.” 8/10

emma says: “i want to know whose crack-pot idea it was to put custard in a donut! 4/10

overall total: 6/10

now for the ambigous one; is it toffee or coffee? i’m sure pup will find out for us…

matt says: “i like it. i’m but sure what flavour it’s meant to be but i like it.” 5.5/10

emma says: “toffee or coffee… i’m not sure, but i like it.” 5.5/10

overal total: 5.5/10

powdered jam donut! tradaitonal, but is it good, or is it boring?..

matt says: “lot’s of jam!”7/10

emma says: “it looks like someone has been murdered!” 6.5\10

overall total: 6.75/10

next up is the sprinkly one. pup likes the look of this!

matt says: “i like the sprinkles. sprinkles are fun!” 6/10

emma says: “it’s a bit sickly.” 5/10

overall total 5.5/10

we’re at the half way point now! must… keeep… going…

now for the dog tur… i mean chocolate spiral.

matt says: “surprisingly nice considering it looks like dog poo. (don’t jude a donut by its appearance!” 6\10

emma says: “i can’t taste the chocolate!” 5.5/10

overall total: 5.75/10

again, one for pup, the chocolate ring!

matt says: “i like it ‘cos i like the traditional donut shape!” he’s so boring 7/10

emma says; “yummy glazing and chocolate-y-ness!” 7/10

overall total: 7/10

now for another classic; glazed jam!

please bear in mind we are very very ful up by now! well, pup isn’t… little piglet!

matt says: “yumdiddilyumptious!” 7.5/10

emma says: “i like the nice jam with the nice jammy bits; none of that nasty chemical stuff.” 7/10

overall total: 7.25

chocolate and cream, sounds promising….

matt says: “the creams lets it down.” 5/10

emma says: “it looks like weird melted marshmellow, rather than cream.” 5/10

overall total: 5/10

glazed lemon up next. i really like the sound of this!

matt says: “very lemon!” 5.5/10 matt doesn’t like lemon!

emma says: “mmm…. but a chemical-esque after-taste.” 6/10

overall total: 5.75

finally for the plain ring. this is the last donut of the adventure. i hope it’s a good one ‘cos my tummy is about to explode, so it’d better be worth it!

matt says: “a bit… just… nothing.” 6/10

emma says: “i’m full up now!” 5.5/10

overall total: 5.75
